Wave and current loading on static and floating offshore structures including some extreme wave conditions can be simulated at model and full scale, with an almost limitless number of probe locations to extract data from, with regular, solitary focused waves, and short duration Jonswap and Pierson Moscowitz spectral distributions used as incident waves impacting on the structure. Full mass properties can be assigned to floating structures and their 6 dof motion response calculated taking into account the fully coupled fluid and external forces due to mooring lines or other constraints. Typical outputs include time histories of motion response, wave loads, connecting forces and moments between bodies, from which useful statistical values can be extracted.
